Types of Articulating Man Lifts
Man lifts are available in both electric-powered and engine-powered models. These equipment are made up to complete a variety of applications depending on the industry and the function. There are some outdoor lifts which are able to rise up more than one hundred forty feet and have a 69 foot horizontal lift. There are some lifts that are especially designed for small spaces. These models can rise 36 feet and extend twenty one feet.
The electric powered man lift units are usually used on concrete slabs indoors. They often have slim designs in order to easily fit into narrow spaces. Engine-powered man lifts usually operate on gas, diesel and propane. They are mostly designed for outdoor applications.
Electric Man Lifts
Electric man lifts are utilized for indoor applications as they come in smaller sizes that can easily fit through standard doorways and fit into tight spaces. These units do not contribute to air pollution and can maneuver around blockages and barriers, while still reaching overhead work places.
There are some electric lifts which have a rotating platform. This mechanism allows for really targeted and precise movements. The controls of the lift have been designed to apply accuracy and efficiency. The electric lifts are offered in many sizes. They could be used in small warehouses or in places with high ceilings. The electric drives utilize rechargeable batteries that could be recharged after the shift ends.
Engine-Powered Lifts
Articulating lifts which are engine-powered are designed to work on all kinds of terrains. Several machines come fitted with legs that hoist the body of the lift off its wheels to help create a more stable foundation. There are various other units which are specially made for rough and uneven terrain. Most of the lifts could handle 500 lbs. Some units could even take on six hundred pound loads. In these heavy-duty instances, the equipment can articulate over 140 feet high or 69 feet out in any direction.
In the past ten years, telehandlers, also referred to as rough terrain variable reach forklifts, have exceeded the reputation of powered mobile machines. These machinery have become the gem of the construction business and with excellent reason. These machines are practical, versatile and really strong. Because the number of manufacturers and models has exploded during the past 5 years or so, there are currently a number of these machines readily offered on the market.
The Telehandler is considered a Class 7 Powered Industrial Truck. Just in name, this description means it is a rough terrain forklift. Any of the similarities between a vertical mast type of forklift and a telehandler literally ends on sight and on operation. There are several other major distinctions between the two machinery discussed below.
As apposed to a vertical mast, a telehandler has an entirely different appearance because it is made with a horizontal boom. A telehandler with a jib attachment from a distance could resemble more of a crane than a forklift. The boom could telescope or extend and retract to lengths of 30 feet and beyond that depends on the particular model. The boom is also able to elevate to an angle from horizontal to around seventy degrees. Telehandlers have been referred to as "zoom booms" due to their ability to telescope. This name has become rather popular with the operators.
"Transaction" is another optional boom related function. Telehandlers that are equipped with this alternative have a boom that is mounted on the chassis in such a way that when the operator activates it, the entire boom to travel back and forward, particularly for distances up to eight feet or so. Amongst the main benefits of this function is that it enables the forks to be withdrawn from a load with no snags or cleanly and the forks could be cleanly inserted underneath, regardless of the boom angle.
Zoom booms have revolutionized the construction business. They could perform many jobs that used to take a lot more time and man-power to complete.
