Terex has remained a competitive player in the material handling and industrialized equipment sector. They are working towards forming a franchise under the name brand Terex by incorporating all of their previous brand names for many of the goods used in conjunction business the brand Terex. Currently, Terex products are principally marketed under the Terex name. A few of the following historic name brands and transitional names include: ATC, Amida, American Truck Company, American, Advance, Bartell, Benford, Bendini, Bid-Well, CMI, CMI-Cifali, CMI Johnson-Ross, Cedarapids, Canica, Comedil, Demag, ELJay, Franna, Fermac, Finlay, Fuchs, Genie, Hi-Ranger, Jaques, Load King, Morrison, O&K, Peiner, PPM, Powerscreen, Pegson, Reedrill, Schaeff, Simplicity, Standard Havens, Tatra, TerexLift, Telelect and Unit Rig.
Terex has had a consistent expansion sequence. In 1995 Terex acquired PPM Cranes, in 1996, then Terex divested Clark Material Handling. In 1997 Terex acquires Telelect and Simon-RO. BPI Handlers in Baraga, Michigan is also acquired this same year.
Acquiring O&K Mining and Payhauler in 1998, allowed Terex to mature their mining business. The same year their crane offering expanded their operations significantly with the acquisitions of Gru Comedil, TerexLift, American Crane and Peiner. A Light Building business soon followed in 1999 when Terex acquired Amida, Bartell and Benford. They soon became a leader within the crushing and screening market by acquiring Cedarapids, Powerscreen, BL Pegson, Re-Tech, and Finlay. Franna, Kooi and Princeton crane companies were also added to Terex in 1999.
By acquiring Fermac, a specialized maker of tractor loader backhoes, in the year 2000, Terex expanded into the Compact Equipment market. Their Light Construction operations continued to expand operations with the acquisition of Coleman Engineering. This same year, Terex divested Moffett, Kooi and Princeton.
In 2001, Terex expanded their Roadbuilding division business with the acquisitions of CMI, Bid-Well, Load King, Atlas and Jaques.
There are single ratio transmissions that perform by changing the torque and speed of motor output. There are numerous multiple gear transmissions that could shift amid ratios as their speed changes. This gear switching could be carried out automatically or by hand. Forward and reverse, or directional control, can be provided as well.
In motor vehicles, the transmission is frequently attached to the crankshaft of the engine. The transmission output travels through the driveshaft to one or more differentials and this process drives the wheels. A differential's most important purpose is to be able to alter the rotational direction, though, it can also provide gear reduction as well.
Power transformation, hybrid configurations and torque converters are various alternative instruments utilized for speed and torque adjustment. Standard gear/belt transmissions are not the only mechanism available.
The simplest of transmissions are simply known as gearboxes and they provide gear reductions in conjunction with right angle change in the direction of the shaft. Every now and then these simple gearboxes are used on PTO equipment or powered agricultural machinery. The axial PTO shaft is at odds with the normal need for the powered shaft. This shaft is either horizontal or vertically extending from one side of the implement to another, depending on the piece of machine. Silage choppers and snow blowers are examples of more complex equipment which have drives supplying output in various directions.
